The time is surely coming

Last week in my journal (the one that I write with a pen on paper, not the one that I share with the world), I was riffing off of some of the Old Testament prophets - think Amos 9:11-15 or Jeremiah 31:31-34.


The time is surely coming,
     says the Lord,
When my Spirit shall guide the world
     and all will know her leading.
When all people are led by the Spirit,
     and there is no more war,
     no more hunger,
     no more loneliness,
     no more fear,
     no more sorrow.
A time when all humanity
     will love God with heart, soul, mind, and strength,
     will love neighbour as self.
A time when all the world
     will share resources
     will steward the earth
     will overturn empire
     will live God's mercy
     will only know love,
                                   joy,
                                        peace,
                                             hope.
May this day come soon,
     my heart cries.
